Im thinking of starting a career in commercial diving but was wondering if I could get an un-biased opinion on which of the courses provided by the underwater centre to choose? Taking into account the cost and whether or not its worth spending the extra money on the course which gives you the most qualifications even though I may not be able to do utilise those qualifications because of lack of experience in which case I should just go for the course which is cheaper with less qualifications and make some cash within the sector and then come back and get my other qualifications?
And don’t worry I do understand that the underwater centre is expensive but if I do a course with them I can get a government sponsored career development loan which I would not be able to get if I went abroad as far as I know.

Hey K.123

Go cheap, what you need is a piece of plastic that allows you to work under water.

Companies looks at your experience and not what fanzy courses you have taken.

When you are done, you will then be swimming in a big sea of "young"/new commercial divers. That sea is not rich when it comes to work for the new ones. i know from a mate, that here in asia they are doing sat diving in 25 M. That is because they wanna keep the sat divers and this is done by doing shallow work that normally is done by air divers and since there is enough air divers around, they don`t have to worry about to find staff. Just remember the schools primary role is to make money and that is done by telling you what you wants to hear ..............

Just my cent of an "advise"

Happy bubbles
Karsten
